After last night's 3-0 shutout win over Boston, the Devils look for back-to-back wins for the first time in a month in Raleigh tonight as they take on the Carolina Hurricanes. Here's what you need to know:
1) Travis Zajac was out of the lineup last night due to illness, but did travel with the team and will be in the lineup tonight. Sergey Kalinin took his spot last night and with the game he had (goal, assist, 3rd star), Hynes will likely scratch a different Devil.
2) With last night's shutout and light workload, Cory Schneider will be between the pipes again
3) The Devils claimed Reid Boucher off waivers yesterday. They initially lost him a month ago when they tried to send him to Albany to help him get more playing time, but Nashville claimed him in the process. Hynes said last night they were happy to have him back in the organization because they think he improves their depth at forward, but they still want to send him to Albany for more playing time and to find more confidence in his game. Here's the catch: The Devils were not the only team to put in a claim for him yesterday. Because of that, the CBA required him to be on an NHL roster last night (which is why Yohann Auvitu was sent to Albany, to make room for him). He was placed on waivers again today with the intention of assigning him to Albany tomorrow if no team submits a claim for him today.
You can catch tonight's game on MSG+, WFAN or The One Jersey Network. Puck drops at 7 p.m.
