Who The Devils Is He Article Photos

On June 17, 2017, the Devils acquired Mirco Mueller from the San Jose Sharks and at just 22 years old at the time, this defenseman was looking forward to getting to New Jersey.

After suffering an injury early in the 2017-18 season, Mueller ended his first year in New Jersey with four points in 28 games-played. He also played in three of the Devils post-season games, getting a taste of the NHL playoffs for the first time in his career.

The Switzerland-native participated in the 2018 IIHF World Championship after the Devils' season ended, where he took home silver with Team Switzerland. He earned six points in the tournament, recording one goal and five assists, and had eight penalty minutes in 10 games.

Fast forward to the start of this season where Mueller was able to return home to play in front of friends and family prior to the 2018 Global Series. The Devils made a stop in Bern, Switzerland to close out the preseason, and both him and fellow Swizterland-native, Nico Hischier, were excited for the experience.

Mueller took part in a ceremonial puck drop in front of his hometown fans prior to the game against SC Bern.

So far on the season, Mueller has a career-high in points with five assists in 28 games-played, but here are a few other fun facts about this Devils defenseman.

Mueller was born in Winterhur, Switzerland and played handball, soccer, volleyball, and tennis while growing up. His favorite non-hockey athlete growing up was Roger Federer and we think both him and Mueller's tennis days may have been the inspiration for this year's Halloween costume.
This Devils defenseman's favorite superhero is Batman, and his favorite wrestler is Undertaker. Safe to say, he loves when the Devils host WWE Night.

During some free-time, he might be playing Fifa, which is his favorite videogame. But in real-life, he'll be rooting for his favorite soccer team, Liverpool FC. As for his favorite TV show, Ozark takes the number one spot, and when he's listening to music, it'll probably be his favorite artist, Kygo.

And although this Devil loves to travel, as they say, there's no place like home.
