Who The Devils Is He Article Photos

Brian Boyle joined the Devils during the 2017 offseason and has had quite a journey since coming to New Jersey.

In September 2017, Boyle was diagnosed with chronic myeloid leukemia and the Devils community rallied behind him so he knew everyone was #BoyleStrong.

Boyle only missed the first 10 games of the season before making his debut as a Devil on November 1, 2017. He walked away with 23 points on the season with 13 goals and 10 assists. The forward then went on to win the Masterton Trophy at the 2018 NHL Awards.

Fast forward to this season where Boyle finds out he is cancer-free in October, then goes on to score his first ever NHL hat trick during Hockey Fights Cancer night in Pittsburgh.

Through his journey, Boyle has become a fan favorite, as he is the epitome of perseverance, hard work and strength. He might be a favorite player, but we have a few facts that will make him your favorite person when you hear them.
This Bostonian is very loyal to his Patriots and Red Sox. Boyle was able to throw out the first pitch at a Red Sox game this past offseason in support of the Jimmy Fund, which benefits the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

This Devils forward's favorite movie is Forrest Gump, which has his favorite actor, Tom Hanks, in it. In his spare time, you might catch him watching his favorite TV show, Friends, or listening to his favorite band, Dave Matthews Band. You can also catch him golfing when he has time, and teaching his son, Declan, the game.

Boyle started playing hockey at the age of three and played football, baseball, soccer, and basketball growing up. It's nice to know his soccer skills are still coming in handy.

One thing's for sure, whenever he has time, Boyle is hanging with his family. Him and his wife, Lauren, not only have their two children to keep their eye on, but also three pups at home (Phoenix, Kingsley, and Gordie).

Although we think this superhero family has a dad that kicks butt on the ice, his wife is quite the warrior herself. Lauren decided to join the fight against cancer by becoming an NHL Ambassador for Hockey Fights Cancer. So far, she's raised over $8,000 at an event she hosted just this past weekend.

Safe to say the Boyles are doing their part to bring hope and awareness to a cause that's new and dear to their heart. Fans can also support this cause by attending the Devils Hockey Fights Cancer Night this Friday, November 23 at Prudential Center.
