With the announcement of Jesper Bratt's new deal before the team's final game of training camp, General Manager Tom Fitzgerald and Head Coach Lindy Ruff discussed the news following the game Sunday night.
"Bratt's a big part of our team, he's a big part of our future," said Fitzgerald. "Things like this, sometimes the business side gets a little bit longer than you expected and all wanted, but at the end of the day we're ecstatic that Jesper is back in the mix here, he'll join the rest of this young crew and get back to work."
The Devils have Monday off before returning to the ice on Tuesday for practice. For full training camp coverage stay on NewJerseyDevils.com.
Head Coach Lindy Ruff hasn't had a chance to meet or work with Jesper Bratt yet, but he is excited for him to join the team and arrive from Sweden soon.
"[I'm] really looking forward to it," said Head Coach Lindy Ruff on Bratt's deal. "I'm glad he's going to be here as quickly as he can. I think he's a piece that fits in the way we want to play. He's creative, he's got good speed. And the sooner we get him here that I think and get them up and running, the better this team will be."
One of Bratt's teammates, Miles Wood also expressed how excited he is for Bratt to return to the Devils this season.
"That's huge for us. First and foremost, Bratt's an outstanding person on and off the ice. Certainly happy to have him back here," said Miles Wood on Jesper Bratt. "That certainly helps our team and I can't wait to see him."
