TRAINING CAMP: Lindy Ruff Gives Thoughts on Crawford Retirement

On Saturday,
Devils goaltender Corey Crawford announced his retirement
from the NHL. Following practice, head coach Lindy Ruff addressed the media and was asked about it.
"My initial thoughts were disappointment. I understand where he's at and the fact he's had a great career, you deal with it and you move on," he said.
Ruff was asked about the process surrounding Crawford's decision to first take personal leave and then retire.

The Devils play their final Camp Game on Sunday at 7:00 PM ET and it will be streamed live once again on NewJerseyDevils.com.
Wedgewood, who was drafted by the Devils in 2010 and was with the organization until 2017, talked about being excited to be back in the organization where it all started.
"I'm excited for a second opportunity to kind of come back and show what I can do and what I've learned and If it comes to (playing more NHL games than expected), I would obviously be, you know, ready and willing to show this team what I can do," said Wedgewood.
Ruff made sure to add that Wedgewood has been very good so far through Devils Training Camp presented by Plymouth Rock Assurance.
"Wedgewood has had a great camp," Ruff began. You're always looking to improve your team. That could mean Blackwood's workload could go up. It might not be a situation of 1A and 1B. That's what I was hoping for."
The Devils head coach continued his thoughts.
"He's trying to make a statement that I can be your guy. That's what any player wants to do when they're in camp is they want to make the hockey club. He continues to do that throughout these practices and the games we were playing."
