Devils prospect Ben Thomson
on Monday was named the OHL Player of the Week for the period ending May 4.
Thomson recorded three points (1g-2a) in two games, including a plus-1, to help the North Bay Battalion open with a road split in their OHL Final matchup against Guelph.
Thomson notched his fifth goal of the postseason in Game 1 of the series, a 3-2 overtime loss on Thursday. The Battalion then evened the series with a 4-2 OT win in Friday's Game 2, with Thomson setting up both the tying and winning goals.
Thomson, a 21-year-old from Orangeville, ON, is playing in his fifth and final OHL season. Selected 96th overall by the Devils in the fourth round of the 2012 NHL Draft, Thomson began his OHL career with the Kitchener Rangers before joining the Battalion midway through the 2013-14 campaign where he scored 24 goals and 15 assists for 39 points in his final 43 games for a career-high 45 points (27g-18a) in 55 games.
An overage forward, Thomson has added 14 points in 19 playoff games with the Battalion.
