The Devils (6-2-0) are off to their hottest start since the 2002-03 season, re-energizing the locker room and fan base with a breadth of young talent and team chemistry. New Jersey vowed to be a tougher team to play against this season and the club has kept their promise -- but this year is also different from past seasons.
A traditionally stingy defensive team, New Jersey has established a new, high-powered offensive identity. The Devils rank fourth in the NHL in goals scored (31), in only eight games played. In comparison to 2016-17, it took the Devils 14 games to reach the 31-goal mark. Check out eight of the Devils' best plays from the first eight games of the season.
