Newark, NJ – The New Jersey Devils have announced that the Stanley Cup will be part of the pregame celebration on Sunday, March 8 as the team celebrates the 20th Anniversary of its 1995 Championship. The Cup will join more than 20 players from the 1994-95 team before the Devils host the Flyers at 5 p.m.
In addition, the Devils will live stream the 1995 Stanley Cup Red-White Alumni Game from Prudential Center’s AmeriHealth Pavilion at NewJerseyDevils.com/95Cup on Saturday, March 7 starting at 3:45 p.m. with player introductions. Devils radio play-by-play man Matt Loughlin will join former Devils player and television analyst Chico Resch to call the game action when the puck drops at 4 p.m.
Proceeds from the Alumni Game, in addition to a newly announced charity auction, will benefit the New Jersey Devils Alumni Association. Starting Friday, March 6 and running through Monday, March 16, fans can go to NewJerseyDevils.com/95Cup to bid on game-worn items from the Alumni Game, including jerseys, helmets and gloves from participating players.
The White team, led by 1995 head coach Jacques Lemaire and goaltending coach Jacques Caron, will feature goaltender Martin Brodeur, 1995 Conn Smythe winner Claude Lemieux, “Mr. Devil" Ken Daneyko, MSG studio analyst John MacLean, current Devils assistant coach Tommy Albelin, as well as Bob Carpenter, Shawn Chambers, Tom Chorske, Bill Guerin and Chris McAlpine.
The Red team, with 1995 assistant coach Larry Robinson behind the bench, will feature Hall of Fame defensemen Scott Stevens and Scott Niedermayer; “The Crash Line” linemates Mike Peluso, Bobby Holik and Randy McKay; current New Jersey Devils goaltending coach Chris Terreri; Devils Alumni Association president Bruce Driver; and Jim Dowd, Brian Rolston and the recently added Valeri Zelepukin.
