Smith-Pelly, Lappin & Quincey will skate vs. PIT

12/27 Devils vs. Penguins: 3 Things to Know

by Julie Robenhymer /

The Devils (13-14-7) return from the three-day holiday break and host the Penguins (22-8-5) tonight at Prudential Center in the second half of a home-and-home series. Here's what you need to know:

1) All three players that sat out Friday's game - Devante Smith-Pelly, Nick Lappin and Kyle Quincey - are in the line up tonight. With Luke Gazdic and Seth Helgeson back in Albany, the Devils have 22 players on their roster. Jacob Josefson skated with the team today, but is still on IR. Sergey Kalinin gets the night off as does Yohann Auvitu, who was recalled this morning from Albany. Head coach John Hynes explained that since Albany played last night, he wasn't going to put Auvitu in tonight but does expect him to get in later this week.

2) The Devils are searching for their first win against Pittsburgh this season with a shootout and regulation loss under their belt, but they are 3-2-2 against Metropolitan Division opponents so far this season and 9-2-2 at home.

3) Cory Schneider gets the start in goal tonight.

Tune in to Devils All-Access on Facebook Live at 5:45 p.m. for The Pre-Game Show with myself and Ken Daneyko. You can watch tonight's game on MSG+ or listen to it in WFAN or The One Jersey Network. Puck drops at 7 p.m.
