Six #DevilsFacts for tonight's game in Florida

by Staff Writer / New Jersey Devils

Here are six #DevilsFacts to know tonight, when the team continues its season-opening four-game road trip in Florida.

1. Tonight’s contest is the first of three meetings between the Devils and Panthers. The Devils were 2-1 in last season's series.

2. Travis Zajac (3g-3a) and Jaromir Jagr (2g-4a) led New Jersey with six points each vs. Florida last season. Brad Boyes (2g-1a) and Nick Bjugstad (1g-2a) each had three points to lead the Panthers.

3. Cory Schneider is 2-1-0 with a 2.21 GAA & a .906 save % in four career games vs. Florida. Thursday in Philadelphia, Schneider became the first Devils’ goaltender other than Martin Brodeur to win a season opener on the road since Alain Chevrier on Oct. 9, 1986 at Madison Square Garden.

4. Patrik Elias is the Devils’ career leader with 26 goals and 50 points in 56 games vs. the Panthers. With 394 goals, he's six shy of becoming the 91st player in NHL history to reach 400.

5. Peter DeBoer, who coached the Panthers for three seasons from 2008-2011, is 10-6-1 (including 2012 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals) vs. his former team.

6. Mike Cammalleri scored two goals in his Devils debut on Thursday at Philadelphia and now has 15 goals and 26 points in his last 21 games dating back to March 3.
