Workers have put the finishing touches on the first external Prudential Center logo, with the Devils' home opener at the brand-new arena now fewer than 94 days away.
The white lettering, featuring Prudential's Rock logo, is visible from the building's Edison Place facade. It's a sign of things to come for the Devils, who begin play at the Newark, N.J. venue on Oct. 27 when they host the Ottawa Senators.
The completion of the Prudential Center wordmark came Wednesday, just a day after crews had poured and smoothed the concrete base that will support the ice surface of the arena's main rink this fall.
The process, which began early Tuesday morning, paved the way for the next steps involved in making ice at the arena, which include installing the dasher boards, then flooding and painting the surface to NHL specifications.
In the meantime, the countdown continues: New Jersey rockers Bon Jovi will perform on Oct. 25 to mark the first-ever event at Prudential Center, the first major sports and entertainment venue to open in the metropolitan area in 25 years.
