Devils’ President/CEO/GM Lou Lamoriello spoke to the media Wednesday morning. Earlier, the club announced it had reduced its training camp roster to 29. Goaltender Jeff Frazee
was assigned to Albany (AHL), Eric Gelinas
returned to Chicoutimi (QMJHL) and Marcus Nilson returned to Sweden.
Lamoriello addressed the status of Bryce Salvador
, who only played the first period of Tuesday’s 3-2 preseason win over Philadelphia.
“He’s gone for tests this morning,” Lamoriello said. “I really have nothing more to add until we find out what the tests are.”Was it a hit or a puck?
LL: No, I think it was a collision.Does it make him feel dizzy or something like that?
LL: He’s had an ear situation before, so we’ll just have to see.How about Marcus Nilson?
LL: He did everything he possibly could. I think it was more what the young players showed in training camp in their improvement. Not only the Albany kids from last year, but also from some of the prospects: [Jacob] Josefson, [Mattias] Tedenby. I think that we have to go with the younger players if there’s any parallel whatsoever. [Eric] Gelinas is just going back to juniors. Can Alexander Urbom go to juniors?
LL: No. If he’s not here, he can go to the American League. All the players are back to junior that can go to junior. All other players can go to Albany. Are you getting antsy as the cap settlement date approaches?
LL: No. We’ll do what we have to do. We know we have to be at a number. Are you anticipating that this is going to be painful?
LL: Any time you make any decisions about personnel, they’re painful. Whatever decisions we have to make will have to be made in the best interests of the team and the organization.
