#RELENTLESS Fan of the Game: Steve Buskiewicz

by Gordy Stillman / New Jersey Devils
Flex Member Steve Buskiewicz serves his community as both a police officer and a volunteer firefighter. He first became a New Jersey Devils fan in junior high school after attending a game with a friend.

NAME: Steve Buskiewicz

AGE: 40

SECTION: I’m a Flex Member and usually sit in section 2 or 3. Tonight I’m in section 3.

HOMETOWN: Fair Lawn

CAREER: I am a police officer.

I HAVE BEEN A SEASON TICKET MEMBER FOR: Two years.

I HAVE BEEN A DEVILS FAN SINCE: 1989. In junior high school, I had a friend that got me involved. I used to go to games with him. I recall watching the pre-game skates and seeing Randy McKay and Bruce Driver skate. The two of them brought a lot of energy to the ice.

BEFORE EVERY DEVILS GAME, I MAKE SURE: I always wear my white Martin Brodeurjersey. I’m not very superstitious.

YOU WOULD BE SURPRISED TO KNOW THAT: Besides being a police officer, I am also a volunteer firefighter.

MY FAVORITE CURRENT PLAYER IS: Adam Henrique

IF I COULD ASK HIM ONE THING: How do you mentally prepare for games?

MY FAVORITE MARTY MOMENT IS: His final goal, against the Carolina Hurricanes. Having a goalie who scored three career goals was exciting.

MY FAVORITE PIECE OF DEVILS MEMORABILIA IS: I have a signed Ken Daneyko photo that I received when I met him at Hackensack University Medical Center. My wife and I saw the Stanley Cup as he toured it through the hospital in 2003. My wife was pregnant at the time and we ran into him in the lobby.

MY FAVORITE PART OF THE HOLIDAY SEASON: Celebrating Christmas with my family.

I AM #RELENTLESS BECAUSE: I’m passionate about the team. I’ve been following them since ’89 when I first started. I’ve been a loyal follower of the Devils.
