NAME: John Podesta
CAREER: Licensed Funeral Director
I HAVE BEEN A SEASON TICKET MEMBER FOR: One year
I HAVE BEEN A DEVILS FAN SINCE: I was little. My first memory is of watching Martin Brodeur when I was seven years old. When I was eight years old I started playing hockey as a forward. I soon switched to goalie. I played travel, high school and college, copying his style.
BEFORE EVERY DEVILS GAME, I MAKE SURE: I always wear my Colorado Rockies Jersey, which the franchise wore before moving to New Jersey.
YOU WOULD BE SURPRISED TO KNOW THAT: I once ran into Chico Resch at a game. He signed my jersey.
MY FAVORITE CURRENT PLAYER IS: Cory Schneider
IF I COULD ASK HIM ONE THING: What do you do to prepare for a game?
MY FAVORITE MARTY MOMENT IS: In the 2000 Stanley Cup Finals, Marty made a sprawling save and the puck rebounded to the point. Daryl Sutter was there and took a shot, Marty was already in a two-pad stack, threw his leg up and just knifed it out of the air. I don’t know how he stopped it, but his acrobatic moves were crazy.
MY FAVORITE PIECE OF DEVILS MEMORABILIA IS: My jersey. With my travel team, we were up in Toronto for two weeks in 2006, and on an off day I went to the Hall of Fame. I walked into the store and said “score!” I’ve had it ever since.
MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT THANKSGIVING: Being with my family.
I AM #RELENTLESS BECAUSE: Win, lose or tie, I’m a Devils fan till I die. (Even though we can’t tie anymore.)
