Rangers' Nash picks Elias at All-Star Draft

by Eric Marin / New Jersey Devils

All-Star Weekend brought a temporary truce in the Battle of the Hudson.

In a move that he joked wouldn’t be popular with Ranger fans, Rick Nash selected Patrik Elias with Team Toews’ 12th pick at the 2015 NHL All-Star Draft in Columbus.

“We’ve got a good leadership guy for the dressing room, one of the most respected guys in the NHL,” Nash said before announcing the pick. “Ranger fans won’t be happy, but from the Devils, Patrik Elias."

It’s the fourth All-Star Game appearance for Elias, who also participated in 2000, 2002 and 2011.

The Devils’ all-time leading scorer has enjoyed a milestone season, collecting both his 600th career assist and 1,000th career point on Jan. 6. He’s one goal away from 400 for his career.

All-Star Weekend continues with Saturday’s Skills Competition (7 p.m., NBCSN) and Sunday’s All-Star Game (5 p.m., NBCSN).
