You had to see it to believe it.
John Quenneville’s dazzling, between-the-legs breakaway goal wasn’t just the highlight of the night Saturday in Red Deer – it was the play of the season.
Forget that it came in a loss for Quenneville’s Brandon Wheat Kings, who fell, 5-3, to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies at the 2016 Memorial Cup. What had the hockey world talking Saturday night was this incredible tally from the Devils' 2014 first-round pick:
Quenneville knows his way around the net. He led the WHL with 16 playoff goals this season, helping the Wheat Kings to win their first WHL title in 20 years. Brandon continues its Memorial Cup quest against the London Knights on Monday.
Quenneville signed a three-year, entry-level deal with the Devils last July.
