Prudential Center mural in the making

by Staff Writer / New Jersey Devils – Amid the loud buzz of circular saws and drills, one corner of Prudential Center has begun to look more like an art gallery than a construction site.

Earlier this week, a team of artists from Sports & The Arts Los Angeles boarded scissor lifts to start plotting out the massive mural that will canvas the wall behind the arena's Ice Lounge.

Beginning with gridlines, work continued on Wednesday with the sketching that will set the stage for the finished, full-color design. When finished, mural will measure approximately 38 feet high by 180 feet wide.

Projects by Sports & The Arts projects have included murals for the NFL, NBA, Major League Baseball and, now, the Devils' all-new state-of-the-art home in Newark, N.J.

Prudential Center is the first major sports and entertainment facility to be built in the metropolitan area in more than 25 years. It is scheduled to open on October 25 with the first of ten performances by Bon Jovi.
