Blake Pietila recorded two assists Thursday in Team USA's 8-0 win over Germany at the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship in Ufa, Russia.
Pietila, the Devils' 2011 fifth-round pick, set up Jacob Trouba's goal that gave the U.S. a 2-0 lead in the first period. A Pietila rebound led to Ryan Hartman's tally that made it 6-0 in the second.
The line of Pietila, Hartman and Cole Bardreau combined for one goal and three helpers.
Alex Galchenyuk and Riley Barber each had a goal and two assists for the Americans, who saw eight different players light the lamp.
Galchenyuk, the third overall pick by Montreal in 2012, plays for the OHL's Sarnia Sting, where he's a teammate of Devils prospect Reid Boucher (4th round, 2011). Barber skates at Miami (CCHA), where he's a teammate of Devils prospect Blake Coleman (3rd round, 2011).
The U.S. faces a tougher test Friday when it takes on Russia at 9 a.m. ET.
