P.A. Parenteau joined the Devils for the first time at practice today after being claimed off waivers yesterday from the New York Islanders. The 33-year-old right winger is known for his offense and figures he can fit in anywhere on the top three lines.
Even though today was his first day with the team, I'd expect to see him in the lineup tomorrow night against the Panthers (7:30 p.m., MSG+). As head coach John Hynes explained this afternoon, "He's been at camp and played in games, just not ours."
Parenteau said he wasn't concerned about being the new guy, and was excited to get on the road right away so he could get to know his new teammates on the plane and over dinner tonight. Having signed as a free agent with the Islanders this summer, he had just bought his kids new jerseys, but said that they were going in the garbage and that he'd get them new Devils jerseys for opening night on Tuesday.
The team is on its way to Fort Lauderdale this afternoon. Keep an eye here as we kick off our Devils All-Access regular season edition tomorrow.
