Holik's first stint with the Devils lasted 10 seasons from '92-'02, and featured Stanley Cup wins in 1995 and 2000.
The hulking 6-4, 230-lb. center is a Devil once again, six years after leaving New Jersey as a free agent. Holik signed Tuesday for a second stint in the Garden State, joining Brian Rolston as the club's latest additions.
Originally drafted 10th overall by Hartford in 1989, Holik first arrived in New Jersey via the 1992 deal that shipped Sean Burke and Eric Weinrich to the Whalers. (Hartford also included the second-round pick that the Devils would use to select Jay Pandolfo in the 1993 Draft.)
Holik posted 20 goals in his first season as a Devil, and went on to record four straight campaigns of 20-or-more goals from 1996-2000. In 1997-98 he set career highs in goals (29) and points (65).
The 17-year veteran sits third on the Devils' all-time goals list (198), 10th in assists (265), and fifth in points (463). His 724 appearances ranks ninth all-time in team history.
At 37, Holik also remains remarkably durable. He has made 82 appearances in each of the last two seasons, and in three of the last four. He was sidelined for 18 games from Jan. 2 to Feb. 11, 2006, and hasn't missed any action since.
In 2007-08, Holik netted 15 goals and 19 assists with Atlanta, and will bring plenty of size and snarl to the Devils' lineup in 2008-09.
