Movember Watch 2016

by Brian Born @BrianBorn / newjerseydevils.com

As the New Jersey Devils prepare to turn the page on October, Adam Henrique is ready to usher in his favorite month of the year, Movember. Henrique is no stranger to growing a majestic cookie duster and has been closely aligned with the Movember Foundation over the past few years, raising awareness for men's health issues. Let's take a look back at the evolution of the #RicoStache.

A 'Stache is Born.

To start at the beginning of the #RicoStache conception, we have to go back to the 2012 Stanley Cup Final. In an effort to change the Devils playoff fortunes, Henrique shaved his playoff beard, debuting a perfectly trimmed lip sweater that caught the eyes (and hearts) of the Devils faithful.

The Revival.

Adam Henrique's face caterpillar made seldom appearances at The Rock, until it's full-fledged return last season. Henrique embraced the Movember movement, decorating his Warrior Hockey stick with mustache stickers.

Henrique even set up his life-sized bobblehead with its very own, perfectly groomed flavor saver.

The legend of the #RicoStache has even been implicated to effect the Devils on the ice. After delivering a perfect drop pass to John Moore, setting up an OT victory in Montreal, Rico gave all the credit to his soup strainer.

Tweet from @TomGulittiNHL: Henrique on seeing Moore on OT winner: "I kept taking a peak. I think the mustache fluttered a bit and saw it. It was a trick play.

#RicoStache didn't always pay dividends for on-ice success. Henrique believed that there may have been some foul play from the referees who were jealous of such an epic muzzy.

2016 Outlook

Adam is stepping up his game this season, introducing a new MoBro hat. Limited quantities will be available for $29.99 at the Devils Den Team Store and all proceeds will be donated to the Movember Foundation. Henrique's mustache progress will be something to watch over the next 30 days. #RicoStache has proven to be fundamentally strong, has a tremendous upside and has the reputation of a real pro's pro. We expect big things this November. Stay tuned.
