Stefan Matteau has earned an invitation to the 2013 USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp, USA Hockey announced on Thursday.

Matteau, 19, will be one of 40 skaters auditioning for a spot on the U.S. National Junior Team that will take part in the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship, Dec. 26, 2013-Jan. 5, 2014, in Malmo, Sweden. Goaltender invitations to the camp will be announced later this month.

The evaluation camp will be held Aug. 3-10 in Lake Placid, N.Y.

The 29th overall pick in 2012, Matteau was named to last year's preliminary U.S. world junior roster, but was the last forward cut before the start of the tournament. Team USA went on to win gold in Ufa, Russia, by beating defending champion Sweden.

The United States has medaled in three of the last four IIHF World Junior Championships, including gold in 2010 and bronze in 2011.

Matteau made his NHL debut last season, collecting a goal and two assists in 17 games with the Devils.
