Brodie Dupont scored twice including the deciding goal with 19.9 seconds left in overtime to give the Hartford Wolf Pack a 3-2 win over the Lowell Devils at Prudential Center on Wednesday.
Though unable to score on their first six power plays, the Wolf Pack would go ahead, 2-1, at 12:16 of the third on their seventh of the match when Dupont cut back door to redirect Corey Locke’s pass inside the near post.
Skating with the extra attacker late in regulation and looking to force overtime, Lowell got the equalizer with 1:07 remaining. Ben Walter won an offensive zone faceoff to the point, where Cory Murphy drove a slapshot that Nathan Perkovich tipped by Matt Zaba for his 12th of the season.
In the extra session, Dupont gave Hartford the victory when he took a drop pass in the slot from Jordan Owens before firing a shot that tipped off the glove of Mike McKenna and across the goal line.
As 4-on-4 hockey turned into a power play for the Devils, Tim Sestito gave his team a 1-0 lead with 3:41 left before the first intermission when he beat Zaba over the shoulder with a wrist shot from the bottom of the far circle.
Hartford evened the score 4:14 into the second period as Derek Couture drove toward to net and was able to one-hand Kenny Roche’s centering feed past McKenna.
