Kinkaid: 'Valuable' time with Albany

On their road to the NHL, many of today’s Devils gained valuable experience playing for the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Albany Devils.

Don't miss the chance to see the next generation of Devils when Albany hosts the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at Prudential Center on Wednesday, Jan. 21!

From his AHL career-high 24 wins last season to the playoff berth that followed, Keith Kinkaid's time with Albany has played a significant role in his development.

After making his NHL debut last season, Kinkaid has shown this year that he belongs in New Jersey, posting a 2.17 goals-against average and .923 save percentage through eight appearances.

Here's what he had to say about his AHL experience:

"It's valuable. It definitely gives you that time to prepare and get ready when your chance comes to be in the NHL. For me, the three-plus years in Albany definitely helped me, especially starting out in the beginning of the year, playing two games in New Jersey and then finally getting my first NHL start. It was definitely a good feeling, and they did it right. They manage you right and once the opportunity comes, you've got to take advantage of it."

On his personal highlight with the A-Devils:

"Probably making the playoffs for the first time in my three years there. We played a good team in St. John's and they made it to the Finals there, but the experience definitely helped us. Hopefully Albany can get in again this year."
