The Devils named their team award winners as voted on by the players at Prudential Center on Tuesday.
Leading scorer Jaromir Jagr was selected MVP, while Andy Greene earned Unsung Hero and Ryan Carter took home the Players’ Player.
"All the players voted today, this morning, so obviously it cost me a lot of money – I have nothing left,” Jagr joked to the crowd of Devils season ticket holders. "I really appreciate it, guys. Everyone who voted for me, it was a great decision. Those who didn’t vote for me, make a better decision next time.”
At 42, Jagr is tops among all Devils with 40 assists and 64 points, and leads the club with six game winners and a +15. His 24 goals are second only to Adam Henrique’s 25.
Greene is second among Devils’ blueliners with 32 points (8g-24a) and averages three more minutes of ice time per game than anyone else on the club (24:35). He's already set a new career high this season with eight goals, including two overtime winners.
Two of Carter’s six goals this season have been game winners, most recently his go-ahead tally in the third period against Washington last Friday. He also notched a two-goal game on Nov. 12, helping to lead the Devils to a win over the Rangers at Madison Square Garden.
“Usually, it’s pretty hard for these guys to get me to not talk, but I’m pretty speechless up here right now,” Carter said. “The fact that you guys voted on this means a lot to me, and I appreciate you guys and all you do, and I enjoy being a part of your team every day.”
