East Rutherford, NJ – The Atlantic Division Champion New Jersey Devils will open their 25th National Hockey League season on Friday, October 6 at Carolina at 7:00 PM. The team will play at Dallas the next night, before opening the home portion of its schedule on Thursday, October 12 vs. Eastern Conference rival Toronto at Continental Airlines Arena at 7:30 PM.
The Devils 41-game home schedule includes 16 matches vs. divisional opponents, 36 contests against the Eastern Conference overall, and five games vs. the Western Conference’s Central Division. Twenty of the team’s home games will take place on the weekend, including eight Fridays, eight Saturdays, and four Sundays. The club will play seven matinees: Sat., Dec. 16 vs. Detroit; Sat. Jan. 20 vs. Philadelphia; Sun., Feb. 11 vs. Tampa Bay; Sat., Feb. 24 vs. Washington; Sat., Mar. 17 vs. Carolina; Sun. Apr. 1 vs. Boston; and Sun., Apr. 8 vs. the NY Islanders. New Jersey will play a season-high six-game homestand, all vs. Eastern Conference opponents from Saturday, February 3 through Friday, February 16.
All Devils’ home evening matches are set for 7:30 PM, with the exception of three 7:00 PM starts: Tue., Nov. 7 vs. Carolina; Tue., Dec. 12 vs. Buffalo; and Sun., Mar. 4 vs. Boston. All of New Jersey’s home matinees will have a 1:00 PM faceoff, with the exception of Sun., Feb. 11 vs. Tampa Bay (3:30 PM), and Sun., Apr. 1 vs. Boston (12:30 PM).
The Devils’ road schedule includes two season-high five-game roadtrips: Sat., Nov. 18 through Mon., Nov. 27; and Tue., Mar. 20 through Wed., Mar. 28. The schedule rotation has the team traveling to all Pacific Division cities. New Jersey will play four of those five opponents Wed., Nov. 22-Sat., Nov. 27.
