Alexander Holtz has joined the New Jersey Devils in Carolina.
The Utica Comets' leading goal-scorer has been recalled by the NHL club who have two games remaining in their season.
Holtz will be available to play when the Devils visit the Hurricanes on Thursday night.
The Swedish 2020 first-rounder played seven games in the NHL earlier this season between Nov. 9, 2021, and Jan. 4, 2022. He has two assists over the seven-game span, including his first NHL point, an assist, in his first NHL game against the Florida Panthers.
Holtz has been on a remarkable run with the Comets in the American Hockey League, a critical player in their regular-season success. He leads the team in goals with 26 in his 52 games and has a total of 25 assists to bring his current season total to 51 points. His seven power-play goals are second only to Fabian Zetterlund's eight.
The 20-year-old ranks second in under-21 scorers in the AHL this season, second only to Jakob Pelletier of the Calgary Flames AHL affiliate, the Stockton Heat, who has 27, but has played 12 more games than Holtz.
