Henrique, Merrill make Western trip

by Eric Marin / New Jersey Devils

Adam Henrique and Jon Merrill could return to the lineup during the Devils’ upcoming road trip through Western Canada.

Both Henrique (lower body) and Merrill (arm) are traveling with the team for the four-game swing, which opens Tuesday in Winnipeg.

Winners of two of their last three, the Devils (8-8-2) also visit Edmonton on Friday, Calgary on Saturday and Vancouver next Tuesday. They're back on home ice the day after Thanksgiving, when they host Detroit at Prudential Center.

Henrique, who’s tied for fourth on the club with nine points (4g-5a), has missed the last six games. Merrill last played on Nov. 1, when he was injured by a slash to the arm. His 20:40 average ice time ranks fourth on the team behind only Andy Greene, Damon Severson and Marek Zidlicky.

The Devils made roster moves before heading West, placing captain Bryce Salvador (lower body) on injured reserve, retroactive to Nov. 10. Defenseman Peter Harrold was recalled from Albany (AHL), where he's put up a power-play goal, one assist and a plus-3 in 13 games, and will be looking to make his NHL season debut.

Salvador and Ryane Clowe (hit to head, five games missed) will both miss the trip. Clowe has been sidelined since Nov. 6 at St. Louis and has four points (1g-3a) in 13 games this season.

Goaltender Scott Clemmensen was recalled from Albany, where he went 1-2-1 in five appearances with a 2.18 goals-against average, .920 save percentage and one shutout.

Keith Kinkaid was assigned to the Devils’ top affiliate after going 0-1-0 in two appearances. He recorded a 2.22 goals-against average and .909 save percentage in his New Jersey stint, stopping 10 of 11 shots in relief of Cory Schneider.
