Helgeson, Hrabarenka recalled from Albany

by Eric Marin / New Jersey Devils

The Devils announced they have recalled defensemen Seth Helgeson and Raman Hrabarenka from Albany (AHL). They were assigned No. 33 and 34, respectively.

Both will play tonight when the Devils visit Tampa Bay at 7:30 p.m. (MSG+, WCBS 880 AM). Eric Gelinas and Jon Merrill will be scratches. Keith Kinkaid starts in goal.

This is Helgeson’s second stint with the big club this season. The 24-year-old made his NHL debut on Nov. 11 and appeared in 21 of 29 games before returning to Albany. The native of Faribault, Minn., recorded one goal, eight assists in 44 games with the A-Devils this season.

Hrabarenka, 22, will make his NHL debut. The undrafted 6-3, 212-pound Belarusian has spent three seasons with Albany since signing as a free agent in 2012. He's posted career highs this season with eight goals (four PPGs), 16 assists and 24 points in 42 games, and is second in points among Albany blueliners.

Stephen Gionta will return to the lineup tonight after missing the last three games with a lower body injury. Cory Schneider will start Saturday’s season finale against the Panthers in Sunrise.
