Wacey Rabbit's gamewinner on Sunday gave the Vancouver Giants their second victory in this year's Memorial Cup.
newjerseydevils.com – The 2007 Memorial Cup is underway in Vancouver, and the hometown Vancouver Giants appear poised to make a run for the Canadian Hockey League championship.
Yesterday, Vancouver topped the Lewiston Maineiacs, 2-1, to improve to 2-0 in the tournament.
The Memorial Cup is competed for annually by four teams: the winners of the Ontario Hockey League, the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, and the Western Hockey League, along with the team from the host city.
This season the individual leagues are represented by Lewiston (QMJHL), the Plymouth Whalers (OHL), and the Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL).
The Giants have now won both of their opening games, and are guaranteed at least a berth in Friday's semifinal. Vancouver topped Plymouth 4-3 in overtime last Friday.
Tonight, Medicine Hat faces Plymouth, which will play Lewiston tomorrow night. The Memorial Cup final is scheduled for this Sunday.
