Today marks the third of four contests between New Jersey and Carolina in the 2018-19 regular season series. The Devils conclude their ninth of 14 sets of back-to-back play in today's matinee. New Jersey is 1-4-3 in second contests of back-to-back play (1-0-1 home).
New Jersey defeated Carolina in their last match-up on Dec. 29 at Prudential Center by a score of 2-0. In his first home game start, rookie goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood picked up his first career/Devil shutout, stopping all 37 shots faced. The Devils leading scorer in the first two contests is Pavel Zacha (2G-1A) who has tallied three points in 120 minutes of action. Six different skaters have tallied one point for Carolina's squad in the two games played (M. Ferland, J. Williams - 1G; D. Hamilton, B. McGinn, J. Stall, T. Teravainen - 1A).
Curtis McElhinney started in the first two games (1-1-0) for Carolina, tallying 118 minutes between the pipes while allowing three goals.
The Devils are 6-2-1 against the Hurricanes at Prudential Center and 10-7-1 overall since the 2014-15 season. New Jersey and Minnesota's fourth and final matchup of the regular season will be April 4th, at PNC Arena.
