What a week! Actually, more like what a road trip so far. Two wins, in Dallas and Arizona, with three more games to go on the longest road trip of the season. Leaving alone the feeling that winning brings around a room, on a team flight, or just anywhere in the near vicinity of anything the team does, it's also been a week of individual moments that has brought out the best in everyone. Players scoring their first career goals, buying their first homes and players rejoining the fold, we have you covered in this week's 10 Takeaways, presented by Ticketmaster.

When Miles Wood was shut down for the season, I understand the disappointment, given all the excitement that surrounded Miles' return. His energy, his smile, his joi-de-Vivreare all incredibly contagious.
I also understand the curiosity around how everything has unfolded after he played just three games this season. From the get-go, it had always been about managing his on-ice time as a priority, whether it was on-ice play or taking games off.
All along Miles' recovery has been part of an extensive process. And he cautioned that's what it was going to be like, potentially missing some games as there was a feeling-out process to his injury. There is no doubt that Miles was medically cleared to play. But there is also a difference between being medically cleared and then testing out how you'd feel on the ice, in-game action, not only after several months off but also with the extent of the procedure, seeing how his body would react was important. Have no doubt that his plan puts his best interest of Miles at the forefront. We are so accustomed to seeing him bounce back from injury with a Wolverine-type quality, but I suppose this is a good reminder that he too, is human.
If there was anyone who was hyper-aware of this it was Miles himself, who frequently mentioned and reminded us that his brief return was only four months out from having had the surgery. He, from the start, tempered expectations of his own return and what that would ultimately look like.

That beauty of a goal by Nico Hischier against Dallas solidified his 200th NHL point in his first 293 NHL games (77g, 123a), making him the sixth youngest Devil in franchise history to hit the 200-point mark at 23 years old and 95 days. He joins a list of players like Kirk Muller, the fastest (242 games at 21-years-old), Brendan Shanahan, Wilf Paiement (KC, COL), Scott Games, and Petr Sykora.

4.

But I suppose that's old news.
He's already surpassed his 200 points after a three-assist night against the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday, which tied a career-high he set back in 2019.

5.

Healthy competition, that's what you always want as a hockey team amongst your players. We saw it between Fabian Zetterlund and Kevin Bahl in Arizona.
Zetterlund's first NHL goal, off a feed from Hischier, set up the night beautifully for the most recent American Hockey League call-ups.
This quote from Kevin Bahl says it all.
"It's fun you have the AHL boys getting a couple," he said. "It was definitely awesome seeing Z get that one and was like I got to get one here, too."

6.

Even better.
The infamous Lindy Ruff quote, speaks the truth:

7.

Zetterlund, with the opportunity he's been given with many more important minutes than his first stint, is finding his stride. Two consecutive nights of two-point nights. After two assists in Dallas, he followed it up with his first career goal and another assist against Arizona.
It seemed fortuitous, that morning Zetterlund was asked whether he had any thoughts about scoring the first goal if he thought it was coming.
He said no.

Joke was on us!

8.

On the upcoming edition of the Speak of the Devils Podcast, Sam Kasan and I sat down with Fabian Zetterlund, just a day after scoring his first NHL goal. It was such a fun conversation I'm excited for you all to hear as we get to know Fabian a little better in a more relaxed environment.
One story I'll share here, but it won't do it justice unless you make sure to tune in next week, less than 24-hours after scoring his first National Hockey League goal, he's signing on the dotted line for his first property back home in Sweden. So, an NHL goal-scorer and homeowner all within a 24-hour period. Impressive!

9.

It bad been quite some time since a Devils game featured two teammates scoring their first NHL goals in the same game.
You'll have to go back to Nov. 12, 2010, to find the last time it occurred, which was a game between the Devils and Oilers when Alexander Vasyunov and Mattias Tedenby both scored their first career goals.

10.

With his win against the Coyotes, Nico Daws earned his 10th victory of the season.
He took over the team lead in wins from Mackenzie Blackwood, who had nine wins before he was placed on Injured Reserve.
