Newark, N.J. — Christmas came early for country fans at the New Jersey Devils’ Tuesday night tilt against the Nashville Predators when some lucky attendees scored free tickets to the Eric Church concert, May 2 at Prudential Center.
Early in the game, one fan won a pair of VIP tickets to the concert, as well as an autographed copy of Church’s photo book, “A Song to Sing.” That lucky fan was Katie Wombough, a Devils and Eric Church fan who had planned to buy tickets to the concert, but had not yet had the opportunity. “I’m really excited,” she said, smiling ear to ear. “I was about to buy [tickets]. I’m just super pumped!”
Near the end of the second period, N.J. Devil stopped by a lucky row in the stands to give everyone tickets to the show. As it turned out, for some fans, luck beget luck. Country fan Mike Wagner, a 21-year-old from Sloatsburg, N.Y., learned about Country Night while at WWE’s Monday Night RAW on March 2. With friends, Wagner decided to come to the game, saying he’s a big country music fan, and lightning struck. He suddenly had tickets to the concert.
Unfortunately for Wagner, he cannot be in two places at once and said he already had tickets to see Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao, in Las Vegas, the same night as the concert. “Unfortunately, I’ll be in Las Vegas that night, but one of my friends will use my ticket,” Wagner said. While Wagner likes the genre in general, he said he has a friend who is a diehard Eric Church fan and he’ll pay it forward by giving the ticket away rather than trying to sell it.
Tickets are still available to the Eric Church concert on May 2. Fans can go to ticketmaster.com, Prudential Center Box Office, charge by phone via 1-800-745-3000 or stop in any Ticketmaster ticket center.
