The Devils announced Tuesday that they have placed Patrik Elias on injured reserve, retroactive to Jan. 16, and assigned defenseman Matt Corrente to Lowell. Forwards Patrick Davis and Nick Palmieri have been recalled from the Devils’ AHL affiliate.
Elias was injured after taking a hard hit from Ryan Wilson at Colorado on Saturday. He was taken off the ice on a stretcher and missed the Devils' 4-0 loss to the Islanders on Monday. Elias, the Devils’ all-time leading scorer, is set to be further evaluated this week.
Davis, 23, is tied for second on Lowell with 28 points (12g-16a) in 44 games. He made his NHL debut last season, appearing in one game. The 6-2, 195-lb. native of Sterling, Mich., was taken by the Devils in the fourth round of the 2005 Entry Draft.
Palmieri, 20, ranks fourth on Lowell with 26 points (15g-11a) in 41 games, and is third among AHL rookies in goals. The 6-3, 220-lb., Utica, N.Y., native was New Jersey’s third-round selection in 2007.
Corrente, 21, has 17 penalty minutes in 10 appearances with New Jersey this season. He made his NHL debut at Dallas on Nov. 21.
