Elias, Gionta and Zubrus each get an 'A'

by Eric Marin / New Jersey Devils – Following a training camp in which head coach Brent Sutter announced that the Devils' captaincy was up for grabs, the question of who will wear the 'A's has been answered.

Patrik Elias, Brian Gionta and Dainius Zubrus have been tapped as alternate captains, it has been announced.

The naming of the Devils' captains comes two days before the team's regular-season opener on Oct. 4 in Tampa Bay. New Jersey will play its first nine games on the road before returning for the Prudential Center opener on Oct. 27 against the Ottawa Senators at 7 p.m.
