This will allow Devils and hockey fans at large to familiarize themselves with the next class of NHL talent. We now take a look at Ottawa's Jack Quinn.

CUT TO THE CHASE

Jack Quinn sprung on to the scene this season with the Ottawa 67s, darting up the draft boards with his relentless offensive play. At the time the CHL season was canceled, Quinn was the second-leading goal scorer (52) in the Ontario Hockey League and the leading goal-getter by undrafted players in the league. In overall points, Quinn was in the top 10 in scoring with 89 overall points in 62 games.

Quinn took a leap in his second OHL season, his 13 goals in his first year turned into 52 the next and his first two seasons have produced 121 points. It's pretty remarkable to think about the work that Quinn has done in order to put himself in talks for at least a Top 20 pick in the upcoming draft. That seems to have always been the story of Jack Quinn. As a young hockey player, he played AA hockey, cut by AAA teams. When he was drafted by the 67s in the OHL, he was sent back to AAA in his rookie season. All along the path, Quinn has had to prove himself and it seems it is finally paying off with his NHL draft approaching.

This past season, the OHL conducted coaches' poll, and Quinn was rated the Eastern Conferences' 'Most Improved Player', third in the Eastern Conferences' 'Most Dangerous in Goal Area' and having the third-best shot in the East, behind two players already drafted into the NHL, Nick Robertson (TOR) and Arthur Kaliyev (LAK). Whatever team lands Quinn will land a player who already has an elite shot, he's worked hard to have his slighter frame bulk up to match his Hockey IQ and shot.

On the slightly smaller side, at 6'0 and 179 lbs, Quinn made it a focus last off-season to improve on his strength and size. He began working out with Ottawa Valley trainer Tony Greco. Quinn joined a group of current NHL players like Philadelphia Flyers captain Claude Giroux and Ben Hutton, a defenseman for the L.A. Kings.

Jack Quinn will be the oldest player in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. As a mid-September baby, he's born September 19, he missed the cutoff for the 2019 Entry Draft by just four days. Quinn will have already turned 19 by the time the 2020 Draft is held, after being rescheduled due to the coronavirus pandemic, making him in a unique position of being first-time draft-eligible and already 19 years old.
