Happy Friday, Devils fans!
A lot of the talk surrounding the franchise this week surrounded Monday's unveiling of their Adidas Reverse Retro jersey. The jersey is a league-wide program with the Devils throwing it back to the early 80s with a new emphasis on Pine Barren green.

"The Devils have been New Jersey's team for almost four decades. Since 1992, through three Stanley Cup Championships, the team's uniform colors, look and feel have remained consistently red, black and white. The adidas Reverse Retro ADIZERO Authentic jersey program created the opportunity for our organization to step back in time in a playful way, accentuating the Pine Barrens-inspired green that plays a significant role in our team history," said New Jersey Devils Senior Vice President of Marketing, Jillian Frechette. "In the coming months, we look forward to bringing the storied first decade of our franchise to life through storytelling, unique immersive experiences, and fan-centric promotions tied to this jersey and the games in which we will wear it."

The Devils social media team had a little fun with the launch, as you can tell from some of these posts:

I THINK THERE'S SOMETHING IN MY EYE

Hockey Fights Cancer is a great initiative the league puts on this year. It's also an emotional time. When Devils super fan Debbie was recently diagnosed with cancer, Kyle Palmieri and the Devils organization wanted to make sure she knew they were there for her. Palmieri sent the below message to Debbie last night. Grab some tissues:

A LOOK AT THE YOUNG ONES

In our most recent Three Things presented by Wawa, team reporter Amanda Stein wrote about 2020 first-round pick Shakir Mukhamadullin. The Russian defender has been a big topic of discussion since his selection as he was a relatively unknown prospect on the first-round radar. But as we've discovered from prospect experts around the hockey world, like The Athletic's Corey Pronman, he's very much a promising player. His performance to start the KHL season reinforced that.

GET TO KNOW THE NEW COACHES

Amanda and I had the opportunity to chat with new assistant coach Chris Taylor and goalie coach Dave Rogalski for Monday's Speak of the Devils podcast episode. Chris Taylor, in particular, was glowing with excitement when discussing coming to Jersey and coaching for his friend and former coach Lindy Ruff.

If you listened to the podcast, you heard us discussing an obscure Rochester, NY staple food: the Garbage Plate. In case you were wondering what it looked like, google it. But be prepared, it doesn't look good. But it is.
Rogalski discussed his relationship with Martin Brodeur and his philosophy and developing young goalies. Overall this podcast was great insight into two of the new faces on the Devils staff.

NICO #CONTENT

Nico Hischier recently posted a video of him hitting the gym hard in anticipation of the new season and fans were loving it. He also got the meme treatment this week. When it comes to Nico content, give the people what they want, right?

THE WEEK AHEAD

Here are some interesting dates in Devils history coming up next week:
November 20:
1983 - John MacLean's birthday. Born Nov. 20, 1964, he was the Devils' first-round pick, sixth overall in the 1983 Entry Draft.
November 22:
1983 - Tom McVie was hired as coach of the New Jersey Devils. He finished the 1983-84 season. He later returned to the club as head coach in 1990 for two seasons.
November 24
2017 - A historic night by all accounts. Brian Boyle, recently diagnosed with cancer, scores a goal on the Devils 'Hockey Fights Cancer" night at Prudential Center, the crowd erupting at that moment. During warmups against Vancouver, the Devils wore "Boyle Strong 11" patches on their jerseys.
November 25
2018 - Nico Hischier plays his 100th NHL game when New Jersey visited Tampa Bay
