The Devils held on to defeat the Red Wings 4-3, tonight at Joe Louis Arena. This win featured goals by Stefan Noesen, Kyle Palmieri (2) and Adam Henrique (short-handed goal). Here's what we learned:
1) When you're struggling to score on the Power Play (0-1 tonight, 3-17 past five games), it's always helpful when you score shorthanded. The Red Wings found themselves on the wrong end of their Power Play twice this evening for two Devils goals.
2) Jacob Josefson and Pavel Zacha have been on fire these past few games and, with his second goal in 2 games after being claimed off waivers from Anaheim, Stefan Noesen has fit in rather well.
3) While the Devils effectively executed their game plan more often than not tonight, head coach John Hynes was quick to point out that there were still pockets in the game where they took their foot off the gas and allowed Detroit to gain some momentum. No doubt consistency will remain an area of emphasis heading into their next game.
The Devils will practice tomorrow and Thursday before hosting the Calgary Flames at Prudential Center on Friday.
