Devils sign forward Miles Wood

The New Jersey Devils today signed forward Miles Wood to a three-year entry-level contract. The announcement was made by Devils’ Executive Vice President/General Manager Ray Shero.

The contract will begin with the 2015-16 season and he will report to New Jersey tomorrow. He has been assigned No. 44.

Wood, 20, was selected by New Jersey in the fourth round, 100th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft. He finished his freshman season when Boston College (HE) was eliminated from the 2016 NCAA Frozen Four on Thursday. In his only season at Boston College, he scored 10 goals and 25 assists for 35 points, while totaling 76 penalty minutes in 37 games. His teammates at B.C. included fellow Devils’ draft picks Steven Santini and J.D. Dudek.

He spent three seasons, 2012-13 through 2014-15, at the Noble & Greenough School (USHS-MA). In 60 career games, he tallied 54 goals and 53 assists for 107 points. In 2015, he represented the United States at the World Junior Championships.

The 6’2”, 195lb. Wood was born on September 13, 1995 in Buffalo, NY. His father is former NHLer Randy Wood, who played 10-plus seasons with the NY Islanders, Buffalo, Toronto and Dallas.
