Mercer Goal vs RW

Even strength, power play, shorthanded... the Devils had it all in the arsenal on Tuesday night against the Red Wings.
Play on a back-to-back night and without Ondrej Palat, the Devils put together a rebound performance against the Red Wings taking charge of the game after Detroit went up 1-0 early in the first period.
It was the responce from that moment on and from the loss to Washington, that head coach Lindy Ruff really appreciated from his team.
"Any time you can end (a losing streak) at one," Ruff said, "we talk a lot about what's the responce to the loss, you know tough travel day we got in really late last night, obviously we kept everybody away (this morning), knew that it wasn't going to be an easy test, these guys have been playing some good hockey, but to answer the bell the way we did, it was fantastic."
The Devils found all the ways to score with even-strength goals by Dawson Mercer and Jack Hughes, a shorthanded goal by Yegor Sharangovich, and a power play goal by Jesper Bratt to defeat the Red Wings in Detroit.
Bratt had a three-point night with two goals and an assist, Hughes had a two-point night, as did Ryan Graves in the 6-2 victory.
"I thought all 60-minutes as a team, we played really well," Bratt said post-game, "we really bounced back from last night, I feel like the way we played with the intensity and the team feeling, the overall game and action from everyone was really good tonight."
Virtek Vanecek was in net for the victory and came up with some enormous and timely saves, particularly in the third period to earn his first victory as a member of the New Jersey Devils.
