The Devils on Tuesday placed Henrik Tallinder on injured reserve retroactive to March 7 and recalled left wing Harri Pesonen from Albany (AHL). The announcement was made by Devils President/CEO/GM Lou Lamoriello.
Lamoriello also updated the status of Martin Brodeur
, who skated Tuesday morning for the first time since developing back soreness in warm-ups on Feb. 24. Brodeur has missed eight games and no timetable has been set for his return.
"It's part of his rehab to get strength," Lamoriello said of Brodeur. "He's been off the ice quite awhile now. It's still going to be a little bit. As to [when], I couldn't even tell you, or how long."
Tallinder (lower body) has missed three games since injuring himself in warm-ups before last Thursday's home game against Buffalo. He has resumed skating and is listed as day-to-day.
"He's still feeling not where he should be," Lamoriello said.
Pesonen has 11 goals, three on the power play, and 15 assists in 54 games with the Devils' top AHL affiliate; his 26 points are fifth-best on the club. He skated as an extra forward at Tuesday's practice.
Said Lamoriello, "We'll get him some practices; we have that opportunity with the IR spot."
