Devils Managing Injuries While Preparing for Avalanche | NOTEBOOK

On the ice for a late afternoon practice, the Devils prepare to host the Colorado Avalanche on Friday night.
After a day off on Wednesday and back-to-back games on Monday and Tuesday, there were plenty of updates around the team.

Bernier Backstops

While Bernier is working towards his return from his hip surgery, today marked the first time he joined the team in a practice format, although he was sharing the net with Emergency Backup Goaltender Kyle Shapiro who was called in to help out during practice.

Palat Status Unknown For Now

Ondrej Palat, who missed the Devils win in Detroit, did not participate in practice today and is still undergoing some evaluation.

"We lose a great player there but we're a team and we've got to play for these guys who are not playing right now," said Captain Nico Hischier.

Blackwood Misses Practice

As for Blackwod's absence, nothing to worry about according to the head coach.
"Just upper body, day to day, and should be available for tomorrow," said Ruff.
