Devils Flex American Muscle in 3-0 Shutout Win

Devils blank Bruins 3-0: Three Things We Learned

by Julie Robenhymer /

The Devils started 2017 with a 3-0 shutout against the Boston Bruins at Prudential Center on Monday with goals from PA Parenteau, Sergey Kalinin and Taylor Hall. Here's what we learned:
2) Miles Wood made a beautiful cross-ice pass to Kalinin for his goal and even dropped the mitts for a glorified wrestling match with Colin Miller after a slash. It was his second fight ever and helped him earn some respect from his teammates. Said Kalinin: "It was a good fight. He is American muscle!"

2) Kalinin stepped into the lineup as a late add when it was determined Travis Zajac was too sick to play. He finished the night with a goal and an assist, as did Hall, who returned to the lineup without missing a beat after missing the past two games for precautionary reasons.
3) Shots were at a premium for both teams on Monday night, especially for the Devils, who witnessed their power play woes continue. The club was limited to just six shots on nearly 11 PP minutes. New Jersey also allowed a handful of shorthanded opportunities, two of which found their way to goaltender Cory Schneider. Schneider earned his second shutout of the season, backstopping the Devils to victory with 22 saves.
The team traveled to Raleigh after the game where they will play the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday.
