Devils fall to Blue Jackets at Prudential Center

Columbus 4, Devils 1: Three Things We Learned

by Julie Robenhymer @JulieRobenhymer / newjerseydevils.com

The Devils lost, 4-1, to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Sunday at Prudential Center with the lone goal coming on the power play from Adam Henrique. Here's what we learned:

1) Taylor Hall led the team in time on ice with 20:07 as well as shots on goal with five.

2) In his third game since being called up, John Quennville played 17:29, including significant time on the power play, in addition to his four SOG and three hits. Head Coach John Hynes praised his play and has rewarded him with more chances.

3) The Devils won the majority of battles in the faceoff circle and that's important because it wasn't just Travis Zajac carrying that load, as he usually does. Pavel Zacha, Joe Blandisi and Blake Pietila all had solid performances in the dot, which is part of what Hynes wanted to see from them by lining them up in the middle.

The Devils will look to get back in the win column when they host the New York Rangers on Tuesday night.
