The Devils were shutout, 3-0, in the first half of a home-and-home with Columbus tonight at Prudential Center. Here's what we learned:
1) The Devils did a much better job staying out of the penalty box tonight with only one minor penalty. They also had six minutes with the man advantage, but could only muster up three shots on the power play.

2) For the third consecutive game the Devils had 20 shots or less, but were also able to limit the opposition to well below their average once again. Tonight, they held the Blue Jackets to just 22 shots on goal.
3) Head coach John Hynes acknowledged the high level of frustration when the team competes hard and doesn't get rewarded - "They were working hard and trying, but they just didn't get any to go in. We'll review this game and see where we can make improvements in order to get better moving forward."
The Devils will look to snap this losing streak when they travel to Columbus on Monday afternoon ahead of the second half of this home-and-home on Tuesday night.
