Blake Coleman is having quite a year in his second full season in New Jersey. At the end of the 2017-18 regular-season, Coleman finished the year with 25 points, recording 13 goals and 12 assists. He netted his 13th goal last season in 75 games-played, but this year, he's hit that mark in just 42 games and has eight assists so far on the season.
At this point last season, Coleman had five goals and 10 assists. The Plano, Texas native recorded a team-high three shorthanded goals during the 2017-18 campaign, and already has two so far this season.
He had recorded 76 shots on net by the 42-game mark of last season, and currently has 121 on the season. He's just second on the team behind Kyle Palmieri, who has 138. Coleman recorded a career-high shots on net in one game when he had eight on January 4 in the Devils 3-2 victory against the Coyotes in Arizona.
Coleman had 101 hits by this time last season, and currently leads the team with 114. The next highest player in hits is Miles Wood with 78 so far this year.
Not only is this Devils forward having quite a year on the ice, but he's also doing a lot off the ice. After proving he was a force to be reckoned with during last season, the Devils and Coleman agreed to a three-year contract on July 17, 2018.
During the off-season, Coleman put his love for pickles to work when he decided to create his own pickle juice and merchandise line, P20.
He also announced the launch of his community platform, Pickles Pals, which supports the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club of Newark Ironbound (BGCN) for the betterment of Newark's youth.
