Clowe placed on injured reserve

by Staff Writer / New Jersey Devils

The Devils placed forward Ryane Clowe on injured reserve on Wednesday, retroactive to Oct. 13. Clowe will miss the team's next two games, against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday and the New York Rangers on Saturday.

"[Clowe] got hit with a pretty good elbow in the third period [Sunday in Winnipeg] and continued to play," Devils president/general manager Lou Lamoriello said.

The headache has since disappeared and Clowe told Lamoriello he wanted to play Thursday, but the Devils are holding him off the ice given his history.

"We just maybe overreacted to it, but when somebody's had a history, we don't want to take any chances," Lamoriello said.

Mattias Tedenby (lower body) will be activated off the injured non-roster list.
