by Staff Writer / New Jersey Devils

Peter DeBoer and Team Canada rolled to their fourth straight win at the IIHF World Championship with a 6-1 rout of Italy on Friday.

It was the second straight 6-1 victory for the Canadians, who received a pair of goals from Cody Hodgson, and tallies from Joel Ward, Jason Chimera, Kyle Turris and Brayden Schenn.

Canada has outscored opponents 20-6 since opening the tournament with a shootout loss to France. They face undefeated Sweden on Sunday, then close out the Group A preliminary round Tuesday versus Norway.

Damien Brunner and Switzerland were also in action Friday, falling to Finland, 3-2, in a shootout. Brunner, who has two goals and two assists in five games, was denied by Pekka Rinne twice in the tiebreaker.

The Swiss have two games remaining in their Group B preliminary round: Saturday against Kazakhstan and Tuesday against Latvia.

Jaromir Jagr (2g-1a, 4 games) and the Czech Republic are back in action Saturday against Denmark in Group A. Raman Hrabarenka (1a, 4 games) and host Belarus face Germany in Group B.
