Simon Nemec and the Slovak national team lost for the second time this tournament in a shootout.

Nemec was the lone member of the New Jersey Devils in action today at Worlds as Slovakia fell in stunning fashion to Kazakhstan 4-3 in the shootout.

Slovakia had 51 shots against Kazakh goaltender Andrey Hutov. Nemec finished the game with two shots.

The Slovaks sit fifth in the Group B standings with a 1-0-2-2 (W, OTW, OTL, L) record.

Nemec, who has eaten up some big minutes for Slovakia as a 19-year-old, played 23:02, and a team-high 27 shifts.

The Kazakhs beat Slovakia for the first time at the Worlds after five consecutive losses in the last meetings between the two nations at the tournament. Kazakhstan went 4-for-4 in the shootout.

Slovakia next plays Slovenia on Sunday, May 21st at 9:20 a.m. ET.

The two other New Jersey Devils at the tournament, Swiss teammates Nico Hischier and Jonas Siegenthaler, did not play today and return to tournament play on Saturday, against Canada (9:20 a.m. ET).
