Community Recap 2022-23 3ThingsWEB

It was an exciting year for the Devils as the organization got back to work with in-person events throughout Newark and Northern New Jersey. In this edition of Three Things presented by GEICO, we take a look back at three of these community events from the 2021-22 season.

1. Champions Gala, March 2022

The Devils Youth Foundation took over Wollman Rink in Central Park for its first ever Champions Gala. The event featured Olympic and Paralympic Greats like Speed Skater Erin Jackson, Bobsledder Elana Meyers Taylor, and Sled Hockey player Jack Wallace. US Champion Mariah Bell also performed on Wollman Rink for an added treat.
In addition to the Olympians and Paralymians, 'Hockey Greats' like Meghan Duggan and Martin Brodeur as well as Devils players like Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier showed up to support. The event raised over $800,000 for the Devils Youth Foundation which creates opportunities for youth in Northern New Jersey and New York through sports and community. The first of many Champions Galas to come was one for the books!

2. Running with the Devils 5K, November 2021

For the first time in several years, the Running with the Devils 5K was in person once again. The annual run and walk raises money for the healthcare heroes in New Jersey who have worked so hard to serve our community during the COVID-19 pandemic. To top it off, Devils guests like Alumni Bruce Driver and Grant Marshall, Devils broadcaster Matt Loughlin, and of course NJ, were there to support. It was another successful event with the Devils and RWJBarnabas Health. If you missed out last year don't worry, the

3. Ironbound Skate Donation, April 2022

After extensive renovations at the Ironbound Recreation Center, including with the rink and skate kiosk, United Airlines and the Devils partnered up to donate 225 pairs of ice skates to the relaunched community center. The donation helps increase opportunities for Newark residents to learn how to skate, and grow the sport of ice hockey. At the grand re-opening of the ice rink, there was plenty of fun to be had and Devils gear all around!
